The Kind of Man I Married

Recently, my husband, Gilbert, and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. Time has gone by so fast since our wedding day in March, 2007. We are now proud parents of 3 gorgeous daughters (almost 6, 3.5 and almost 2). I’ve watched him become an amazing father and see the results of his loving leadership on our girls. They’re happy and confident and excited about life!

Recently we started a reward chart for them and they earn stickers for being sweet, good, helpful, kind, etc. If something they say or do really stands out to us, we give them a sticker on the chart. After 5 stickers, they earn a reward. So far the rewards have been dates out with Dad. And how they enjoy them and look forward to them…even if it’s just a quick visit to the coffee shop for a “fluffy” and a walk around the pet store! It’s the time with Dad that is the reward. 🙂

Things I’ve learned about my husband in the past 7 years:

– If you’re ever in need, he’ll be the 1st person to lend a helping hand, or arrange the help you need. He’s the sort of guy who has his eye out for stranded people on the side of the road and always wants to stop and help. He’ll get out and direct traffic around an accident if he has to. I’ve seen him do this a number of times. He goes above and beyond the call of duty to see to the needs of others.

– He’s an encourager and a motivator! He always tells me, “Can’t isn’t in your vocabulary!” He’s given me the courage to do things that I’d say are too hard. I always am rewarded with the feeling of joy after accomplishing something I thought I couldn’t, but I imagine he gets real satisfaction out of seeing me grow! He’s always got a smile and a little joke to brighten someone’s day and lift the mood. He reaches out to people. He’s extroverted, whereas I’m more reserved (due to my upbringing.) He helps me come out of my shell just by setting such a great example for me.

– He’s a hard worker! He’s the best employee a boss could want. Loyal, diligent, motivated…always helping his coworkers and trying to make their jobs easier. Always figuring out shortcuts to make his work more productive too.

This guy is going places and I’m so thrilled I get to be his co-pilot! 🙂
